After the year we all had in 2020, and what Texas went through in February 2021 with the crazy winter storm of the century, we could all use a little something to look forward to.
I was driving home from the airport the other day and the local country station was playing a roundup of the top twenty songs and were mixing in some others to transport us to warmer weather days to come. As soon as they played Toes by Zac Brown Band, it took me right to that happy place I needed to be thinking about better times to come and good vibes. Toes is one of those songs that I don’t think matters what time of year it is or what year it came out, it is always relevant. Another one I love that I have been cranking up lately is Knee Deep.
I always ask people “are you a mountain or a beach person?”. Most people feel strongly one way or the other. Some say they love both equally. I am first a mountain person. It is my happy place where I feel most alive and energized. Something about breathing that clean mountain air and hiking under those clear blue skies of Colorado that touch my soul.
I spent a good deal of time in Florida as well and have to say they have amazing beaches there. I don’t know why so many people go out of the country to the beach when there are such beautiful beaches in Florida. Most recently I was in Naples, a pristine area that is a favorite of affluent retirees. The landscaping is amazing, the beaches are clean and white, there are tons of good restaurants, and the people are kind.
Still, as much as I like it there, I still have to choose the mountains. Dierks Bentley’s Goodbye in Telluride exemplifies my love of Colorado. Break up with me anywhere, just not in Telluride. ;-)
What's your go to? Are you a mountains or a beach person? These two songs right here are a couple of my current favorites to tap into that virtual travel bank.
